Dr. Joseph Perl is an internationally recognized
expert in the field of digital wireless communications. Dr.
Perl was President and CEO of DSP Communications (DSPC) until
shortly before its acquisition by Intel Corporation in 1999
for approximately $1.6 billion. Dr. Perl had been with DSPC
since 1990, serving in various management positions including
General Manager of its Israeli subsidiary. Prior to DSPC,
Dr. Perl's career combined academic appointments and managerial
positions. He previously served as Adjunct Professor at Tel
Aviv University, Florida State University and the University
of Nebraska, and held management positions at Tadiran Electronics
and Elbit Computers, both leading Israeli high-tech companies.
Dr. Perl received his B.Sc. degree from the Technion - Israel
Institute of Technology, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from
Colorado State University, all in Electronic Engineering.
Throughout his career, Dr. Perl worked for high-tech companies
in the areas of wireless communications, digital signal processing
and semiconductors. Dr. Perl serves as a Board Member and
Advisory Board Member of several technology companies.
Shabtai Adlersberg co-founded AudioCodes
in 1993, where he serves as Chairman of the Board, President
and Chief Executive Officer. In 1987, Mr. Adlersberg co-founded
DSP Group, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company and later
established a digital cellular communications company, DSP
Communications, Inc., which was spun-off in 1992. Mr. Adlersberg
holds a M.Sc. degree in Electronics and Computer Engineering
from Tel Aviv University.
Eli has over 25 years of experience in the
telecommunication and semiconductor industries. Prior to joining
Provigent Eli was President and CEO of LanOptics. He led the
company since its inception, and turned it to a highly profitable
multi-million dollar business. Eli has taken the company to
an IPO in NASDAQ raising over $27M in less than 3 years from
company inception. Has consummated strategic relationships
with vendors such as Cisco Systems and IBM. Under his management,
LanOptics opened subsidiaries in the US and UK, and branch
offices in various European countries. Prior to LanOptics
Eli was Vice President International Sales in Adacom Technologies,
a manufacturer of data communication systems products for
the IBM 3270 environment. Prior to Adacom Technologies, Eli
held several positions in Reiter Software Systems, ultimately
becoming General Manager of this communications projects company.
Eli holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science degree from The Technion,
the Israeli Institute of Technology.
Dan has a decade of experience in digital
signal processing in telecommunications and other fields.
Prior to co-founding Provigent, Dan led an interdisciplinary
group with expertise in DSP, software, analog electronics
and statistics. Previously Dan served eight years in the Israel
Defense Forces (IDF) as part of the prestigious Talpiot program.
His work in elite IDF and Ministry of Defense R&D units
focused on digital signal processing algorithms, primarily
for telecommunications applications. Dan holds an M.Sc. in
the field of Digital Signal Processing from the Faculty of
Electrical Engineering of the Technion, the Israeli Institute
of Technology, and a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics from
the Hebrew University, Jerusalem.
Prior to joining Provigent Victor was Corporate Vice President of World-Wide Sales and Marketing
of the DSP Group (NASDAQ: DSPG), responsible for over $200M sales at a pace of over 1M ICs per day,
in a highly competitive consumer market environment. Victor joined DSP Group since its inception,
and throughout his impressive career there he served at various top level management positions of Sales,
Marketing, Business Development and R&D. Prior to DSP Group,
Victor ran several projects for the Israeli Aviation Industries.
Victor holds an M.Sc. in Electronics, from Moscow Technical University of
Communication and Informatics and an MBA from Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
Overall Victor has over 25 years of experience in the telecommunication and
semiconductor industries and holds numerous patents in this field.
Guy has more than 7 years of experience
in the financial aspect of high-tech companies. Before joining
Provigent, Guy was the controller of Action Base, a developer
of software platforms for business activity intended to better
manage organizational boundaries. Previously Guy was employed
at Kesselman and Kesselman, the Israeli branch of PriceWaterhouseCoopers,
one of leading CPA offices in the world, where he was senior
auditor of a wide range of customers, including NASDAQ registered
companies, in the fields of high tech, venture capital and
investment banking, retail business and others. Guy holds
a Master’s in Business Administration, BA in accounting
(with honors) and LLB degrees from Tel Aviv University.
Dr. Jonathan Friedman VP of R&D has been with
Provigent since 2004. In a short period he advanced from System Group
Manger position through AVP System Engineering to VP. Prior to Provigent,
for three years at Metalink Broadband, Dr. Friedmann led the development
and the projects of SHDSL, G-SHDSL and EoSHDSL modems. He led the modem’s
development from the design through the development and integration phases
in software and hardware to incorporation in customers’ systems. One of his
specialties is the algorithms development. During 1996-2001 Dr. Friedmann
lectured at the University of Tal Aviv on various courses including,
Optimization methods, Deterministic modeling, Introduction to Signal
Processing and Random signals and noise. During 1998-1999, at Tadiran
Electronic System Dr. Friedmann was involved in developing algorithms
in signal processing, e.g., detection of burst signals,
bearing estimation for spectrum monitoring, and integrating the
algorithms in software and hardware.
Jonathan holds B.Sc. in industrial engineering (Magna Cum Laude) and M.Sc.
in Electrical engineering (Magna Cum Laude) from Tel Aviv University.
At 2002 Jonathan Friedman received his Ph.D. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering from Tel Aviv University
on the subject of Signal processing with partially consistent observations. Dr. Friedman received many awards
as a student and as a lecturer.
Dr. Friedman is an author of multitude of journal paper on a range
of subjects in the signal processing field. Dr. Friedman holds numerous patents in the communication field.
Ran Soffer has over ten years experience
in communications and networking. Prior to joining Provigent,
Ran was Director of Wireline Product Management at Metalink,
which develops high performance silicon solution for xDSL
markets to enable the broadband connectivity. Prior to
managing the Wireline Product Management group, Ran managed
the VDSL product line at Metalink. He played a leading part in
steering Metalink towards new VDSL markets. He also
participated in the IEEE Standard Committee for standardizing
Ethernet in the last mile. Previously, he held management and
engineering positions in Redux, ECI, and Motorola Israel. Ran
holds a B.Sc. & MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the
Technion, the Israeli Institute of Technology. He also holds a
MBA from the Technion.
Andrew has more than eight years experience
in the communications semiconductor industry. Before joining Provigent,
Andrew was in charge of sales in western US for NetLogic
Microsystems, a supplier of leading edge ternary content
addressable memories (TCAM) and content inspection
processors. Andrew was instrumental in improving sales to
enable an IPO in 2004 and subsequent revenue growth that
made NetLogic the best performing semiconductor stock of
2005. Prior to NetLogic, Andrew was successful in multiple
field sales roles at IDT. Andrew served nine years of active
duty in the US Navy and achieved the rank of Lieutenant
Commander. Andrew holds a B.Sc. M.E. with distinction from
Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
Chemi is a true pioneer of the venture capital
industry in Israel. Chemi is the co-founder and managing director
of Pitango Venture Capital, a leading venture capital firm
that currently manages four venture funds totaling $700 million
in committed capital. He previously founded and managed Mofet
Israel Technology Fund, which had a successful track record
under his leadership. Prior to Mofet, Chemi was Director of
Business Development and Marketing at Decision Systems Israel
(DSI), and a Senior Consultant to Israel Aircraft Industries
(IAI). Chemi is one of the founders of the Israel Venture
Association. He also serves on the board of Aladdin Knowledge
Systems, Orckit Communications, and Koor Industries. He holds
an MBA degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial
Engineering and Management from Tel Aviv University. He also
served as a pilot in the Israel Air Force for 10 years.
Benny Hanigal is one of Sequoia's three
Israeli Partners and focuses on components and systems investments
in Israel. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2001, he was
a Partner in Star Seed, a German - Israeli Venture Fund where
he led the investment activities in Israel and abroad. Before
establishing Star Seed in 1998, Benny had founded Lannet in
1985 and served as its President and CEO until it merged with
Madge Networks in 1995, where he continued to serve as a Senior
VP for Product Development and Marketing. In 1993 Benny co-founded
BreezeCOM (BRZE) and served as its chairman until 1999. Benny
received his EE degree from the Technion - Israel Institute
of Technology - in 1971.
Jonathan is a Managing Director in Globespan’s
Boston office. His investment focus primarily is on communications
and internet/infrastructure investments. Jonathan serves on the boards
of Acinion, Dotomi, Nextmedium, Provigent and Zipcar, where he was an
early investor. He also led Globespan's investment in Linden Lab.
Jonathan was co-founder of Akamai Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: AKAM),
the leading global Internet content and application delivery services
company. During his tenure at Akamai, he managed fast growing parts of
the business, including global infrastructure development and deployment
and international expansion and business development. Prior to founding
Akamai, Jonathan worked at ECI Telecom in Israel where his role included
product marketing and new product development and working with customers
in over 35 countries around the world.
Jonathan received a BS degree with honors from Stanford University where
he studied Physics. He also attended the Sloan School of Management at
the Massachusetts Institute of Technology prior to founding Akamai.
Jonathan serves on the board of trustees of the Institute of Contemporary
Art in Boston and the Arnold P. Gold Foundation for Humanism in Medicine
in New Jersey. He is fluent in Hebrew, Spanish and French.
Modi Rosen has worked closely with leading
communication technology and market players at the highest
levels for over a decade. Modi is a managing partner of Magnum
Communications, an Israel-based venture capital fund investing
exclusively in promising communication companies. Modi previously
served as a global account manager with international management
consulting companies in the communications industry. He is
intimately familiar with many communication technologies,
including IP and wireless communications. He has worked closely
with European and Israeli communication service providers
(incumbents, second carriers, wireless, cellular carriers
and ISPs) in designing and executing their overall business
strategy. Modi holds an MBA and a B.A in Economics.
Moshe Bar-Niv has over 20 years of experience
in the high-tech community. Moshe is the founder and general
partner of Ascend Technology Ventures, an Israel-based venture
capital firm that invests in early-stage high-growth companies.
During the past decade, he has been a knowledgeable and experienced
investor in all aspects of the high-tech industry. Prior to
founding Ascend, Moshe founded Trinet Venture Capital. He
previously held executive positions in global corporations
such as Intel and Motorola in both Israel and the United States.
Moshe holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Industrial Engineering
and Management from Ben Gurion University.
Ben Harel has more than 20 years of
experience in entrepreneurship marketing, sales, and general
management in the consumer software and IT markets. Since
the early 1990s, Ben has been active in technology
investments and in 1999 he co-founded Delta Ventures. Ben's
long involvement in and knowledge of the Japanese market has
enabled him to play a pivotal role in establishing strategic
long term relationships with Japanese companies such as
Fujitsu, NEC, and Sony, on behalf of Delta Ventures'
Portfolio Companies. Ben was the founder of Interlogic,
Inc., a game software pioneer, which, since the early 1980s,
has served as a consultant to, and licensor and developer
of, Atari, Coleco, Taito, Sega, and Nintendo software. Ben
sold Interlogic to Konami Industry Co. Ltd., a world leader
in the Consumer Game Software industry, and in 1985 became
the CEO of Konami. Ben holds a B.Sc. degree in Chemistry and
Biology from Louisiana College and an MBA in Management from
Keller Graduate School.
